Eyewitnesses told the police that the manager, Arindam Pal, was resting in his cabin early in the afternoon when the suspect, Vishwas Pandey, stormed in and fired five rounds at him. Police said Pal died on the spot.
Pandey, an engineering graduate, was an executive manager in the company. He was sacked earlier this year after an inquiry initiated by his supervisor, Pal had found him guilty of indiscipline.
